Q: Do you do home births in Charlotte?
A: Currently, due to the legal situation, I do not provide midwifery care in any state except South Carolina. However, I am happy to discuss your options with you by phone, with no cost or obligation to you. I encourage you to call or email me with your phone number.
Q: Do you have a birth center?
A: There will be one soon! Carolinabirth.org
Q: Do you do water births? Are they safe?
A: Yes, and Yes! I wouldn’t do them if they were risky!
Q: Do you take insurance?
A: I can accept most insurances. I also accept South Carolina Medicaid. I am sorry, but I cannot accept North Carolina Medicaid at this time.
Q: How much is your midwife fee if I pay cash?
A: I have a discounted cash-pay rate. Call me for details.
Q: Do you do VBACs?
A: I LOVE VBACs. However, I am currently not able to do them. Please call or email me; I would love to help you discover your options.
Q: How much do your childbirth classes cost?
A: I do them for free, as a community service and outreach. If you take my class and love it, I encourage you to make a donation to the Carolina Community Maternity Center, a non-profit birth center coming soon to our area.
Q: What kind of classes are they?
A: I focus on the physiology of normal birth, breathing/relaxation/coping techniques, breastfeeding, nutrition, newborn care, and avoiding complications. Classes run once weekly for 5 weeks, from 7-9 pm on either Tuesday or Thursday evenings.
